FAQ

Background Info

How did UNBREAK ME start?

UNBREAK ME was created by Tara and her husband Jeremiah in response to the problem of dating and sexual violence. Their hope is that by shedding light on this dark topic, it would bring help and healing to thousands of young men and women.

When creating UNBREAK ME, did you consult with anyone?

During the five year process of developing UNBREAK ME, Tara met with noted psychologists in Australia and the United States, as well as social workers, counselors, rape crisis specialists and numerous victims of sexual violence. All of the interviews, suggestions, professional recommendations and personal stories were used to shape UNBREAK ME into a one of a kind program specifically designed for an assembly style setting.

How does UNBREAK ME receive funding?

Through private donors, fundraisers and community grants.

Program Info - Middle and High Schools

What dates/times are you available?

The UNBREAK ME tour schedule will run from mid-September to mid-May. An assembly can not start earlier than 9:30am to allow time for production set up. The gymnasium or theater must be available 2 hours prior to the assembly and 1 hour after the assembly.

What is the minimum number of students?

We request a minimum of 150 girls and 150 guys. If your school falls below this number, we suggest combining with another local school or making it a district event.

Why is a deposit necessary?

Since we can only book one assembly program per day, we require a $500 deposit to insure that the date will be held. The deposit is non-refundable but if an alternative date is given within four weeks of the scheduled assembly, the deposit will be applied to the assembly cost. In the case of inclement weather, the assembly will be rescheduled but the deposit will be applied to the rescheduled assembly cost.

What is the follow-up provided after the assembly?

Students are encouraged to visit this website where they can find additional resources. We will also call the school social worker or counselor prior to the event to make sure he/she has the resources necessary to follow up with any students seeking additional help.

Who is the target audience?

Girls in 7th – 12th grades. Boys in 7th – 12th grade. Assemblies are held separately but on the same day.

What is the cost?

$2000 – However through a matching grant, UNBREAK ME will be available for middle and high schools for the 2012- 2013 school year for $1000. Additional grants for qualifying schools are available on our website. We encourage schools to look for community funding through local law enforcement, community grants, hospitals and businesses.
